What are the main differences between Cross Training and Powerlifting? Both are sports disciplines that have some points in common. Apparently they are the same, especially for the profiles to start, but there are really great differences, although both are related to the force and weightlifting.
To start we will see how each of them define.
Cross Training
Cross Training defines it as a personal training, constantly varied, executed at high intensity. It is a training that combines different sports disciplines that work a global, that is, resistance, strength, flexibility, power, speed, balance, precision and agility.
All these capacities and skills are being developed in each training to form conscious and constant.
Powerlifting
Powerlifting is also known as power lifting. It is a strength training and is based mainly on three movements: the squat (Back Squat), bench press and dead weight (Deadlift).
Each of these movements works a different muscle group. It develops the physical strength of each athlete and obviously increases the muscle development of the body.
Main differences between Cross Training and Powerlifting
According to the definitions, the difference is clear. The Cross Training encompasses a much broader set of movements and develops another type of capacities apart from the force.
Powerlifting is much more focused on a specific objective, while Cross Training is multidisciplinary and the goal is to be in the best possible way, trying to develop a very complete athlete.
This does not mean that in order to develop all strength and power in the PowerLIFTING, training also apply the Cross Training. Both complement each other and that's why together they fit tan good. The key is to find the midpoint that benefits both disciplines.
